Hello and welcome! Here's a little about me:
I am a non-traditional, relational therapist who identifies as queer and gender non-conforming who uses she/they pronouns. I am neurodiverse and a survivor of mental illness as well as trauma. I'm a born and raised Mainer which has shaped my desire to create an accessible, understanding and safe environment for all people I work with.
Here's a bit about my approach to therapy as well as what to expect as a client:
It is my passion in life to provide an authentic, safe space where you will feel seen and heard discussing any aspects of your life. By using a person-centered, strengths-based approach I am able to be fully present while you work to gain the skills to make the changes that you desire in your life. My belief of my role is providing support and guidance while you create a relationship with the most important person in your life… you.
I approach each case in an individual nature as we are all inherently unique in our experiences and needs. I draw aspects from Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Expressive Arts, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psychodynamic approaches. Blending an integrative approach of evidence-based, holistic psychotherapy practices and intuitively leading each session; provides a better opportunity for me to support you in various areas of your life—work, school, family, spirituality, physical/mental health, relationships —to help reduce symptoms, better manage your emotions, pain or to focus on becoming the person you envision being.
I have worked with late-teens, adults and elderly on a variety of issues including self-harm, substance use, disordered eating, grief/loss, anxiety, survival of trauma, self-esteem and other health concerns. The bulk of my prior experience is working with those that are acute in the presentation of their illness, people who struggle with self-harm or suicidal thoughts and the veteran population. My special areas of interest include survivors of abuse and/or trauma, depression, anxiety, intimate partner violence, self acceptance, self-esteem and body image as well as intergenerational trauma.
You've taken the first and hardest step in your healing journey. I invite you to reach out to me if anything you've read today resonates.
I am in network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Behavioral/Optum Plans, and Community Health Options. I can also accept negotiable self-pay rates.
