Our clinicians share and embody three core values: inclusivity, competency, and advocacy.
We prioritize an affirming space that welcomes people from all varying and intersecting identities including but not limited to LGBTQIA, BIPOC, and disabled bodied persons.
Additionally, we believe people's health is not dependent on body shape and size; all bodies will be accepted and not subjected to judgment, scrutiny or assumptions of health.
Our clinical competencies and ability to provide an affirming experience are achieved through lived experience, on-going continuing education courses, supervision, and review of pertinent literature.
Lastly, our practice is strongly aligned with social justice and advocacy. It is undeniable the social problems deeply impact and can injure a person’s overall well-being. Therefore, in addition to our clinical work, our team pledges action towards social justice issues including but not limited to: racism, xenophobia, homophobia, sexism, fatphobia/body-based discrimination, substance use and dependence, homelessness, resource accessibility, and wealth inequality. Please see our Advocacy page for details about our monthly focus and initiatives.

The word solstice is derived from the latin word “sol” for sun and “sistere” to stand still, because during the solstices, the sun seems to stand still when it’s daily path appears to pause as it reverses direction.
This name was chosen for our psychotherapy practice, as a reminder that as humans, change is often subtle and unseen, and that it is never too late to transition and start anew. The solstice is a symbol for turning points, personal awakening, as well as embracing the lightness and darkness that exists within us.
“We, like the sun, contain the power to nurture and sustain, and that we have a responsibility to burn as brightly as we can.” - Cait Johnson
The Solstice is "a reminder of indigenous peoples’ understanding of the intricate workings of the solar system" and their “ancient understanding of the interconnectedness of the world.” -Rosalyn LaPiere
